側(cè)向推進(jìn)器分為可調(diào)螺距(CP)側(cè)向推進(jìn)器和固定螺距(FP)側(cè)向推進(jìn)器。原動(dòng)機(jī)常用電動(dòng)機(jī)，也可采用柴油機(jī)和液壓馬達(dá)驅(qū)動(dòng)。
全回轉(zhuǎn)舵槳通過(guò)操縱舵槳轉(zhuǎn)舵機(jī)構(gòu)使螺旋槳繞著垂直的中間立柱作360。任意方向回轉(zhuǎn)，集推進(jìn)和操舵功能于一體，能使船舶在任何方向都能獲得較大的推力，可作船舶主、輔推進(jìn)和動(dòng)力定位。全回轉(zhuǎn)舵槳有三種安裝形式：艉機(jī)型、井座型和甲板機(jī)組型。原動(dòng)機(jī)常用柴油機(jī)，也可采用電動(dòng)機(jī)和液壓馬達(dá)驅(qū)動(dòng)。
